2021 SDPL Spring into Steam!

Join us!

SDPL is partnering with local science experts and organizations to create a truly unique educational experience all focused on exploration and travel!

Our program is to decoupage a beautiful world map onto a large art canvas and accent with a full string of battery powered LED lights to illuminate points of interest. Perhaps countries or cultures you’d like to learn about or maybe even places you’ve visited or would like to visit. This inspiring illuminated canvas map will allow us to view the size and scope of our planet and act as a reminder of the diverse world that awaits just outside our door. Each participant will receive a free activity kit.

Set off on an adventure to explore new places, cultures, and modes of travel in this annual Spring into STEAM event.

This year’s STEAM Challenge includes 4 workshops.  Each workshop will reveal a secret code. Complete at least 2 different workshops and write the codes down on a piece of paper or on the bookmark below. Return to a library branch offering services to claim a pair of binoculars!

Registration required. Ages 9-12.

Everyone can check out Comic-Con at HOME this year, no badge needed!!
On Wednesday, July 22, the Comic-Con@Home Online Exhibit Hall will go live. Join us for an interactive version of the floor plan with offerings from a great cross-section of exhibitors from all over the Comic-Con Exhibit Hall. You’ll find company listings, exclusive products for sale, promotional links, and a whole lot more. The Exhibit Hall will be available for all five days of the convention. It will close—just like the real thing—on Sunday, July 26. Check it out as soon as you can and as often as you can, and remember: You can’t see the whole thing in just one visit!

Library Crafts and Art Club postponed!

In response to the world-wide concern over the spread of COVID-19, and in an effort to participate with State and Local Agencies in mitigating further spread of COVID-19, we regret to inform you of the drastic, but necessary, measures the City of San Diego must take to protect their valued residents and working partners. EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, all of our scheduled programs at Library branches, citywide, are being POSTPONED until sometime after July, 2020.
We will work to hopefully reschedule our programs for later dates.
We truly apologize for any inconvenience this may have on you and your family.
